Stages of Cognitive Development: Stage 1: Sensori- Motor (Birth- 2 yrs) Infants and toddlers acquire sensory experiences through manipulating objects. Where toddlers begin to understand that an object still exists even when they can't be seen (object permanence). Stage 2: Pre-Operational (2 yrs-7 yrs) Toddlers will view too equal pieces of something as one is larger than the other due to the shape. They believe that although the shapes are the same size they will choose the one that merely looks larger. Stage 3: Concrete Operational: (7 yrs- 11 yrs.) Kids start to think more logically but are limited when it comes to abstract and hypothetical viewpoints. They also, become aware of their feelings and that not everyone else has the same feelings or ideas. Stage 4: Formal Operational (11 yrs and up) They begin to see multiple ways to fix a problem, and think more scientifically around them. There is a much greater focus on possibilities. This course is very technology based which some points may be a challenge for me to grasp in the beginning. Although, this course from what I've been told is more upbeat and fast tracked I'm looking forward to it. I'm interested in psychology as a college major and I feel like learning in this course will help me be ahead when I reach college. I'm interested in learning all that I can about the human behaviors and why we do what we do and the reasoning behind the brain. I'm also friends with majority of the class and love being able to have sixth hour with my friends. This course is what I am looking forward to the most in semester two.
Student Portfolio #1: Kenzie’s website represents Kenzie as if it’s her. It’s very classy and elegant. It involves her passion for running as well as the calmness of her personality. Student Portfolio #2: Sydney’s website couldn't fit Sydney any more perfectly. It’s outgoing, spunky and fun just as Sydney is everyday. Her blog shows her personality through every page and tab. Student Portfolio #3: Megan’s website is a very calm relaxing theme that sends out a calm feeling that feels warm almost. The theme was a very simple concept. |
