The Mother: In the beginning of the movie the mom had left over ten voice mails on her sons phone in less than an hour. She was experiencing Empty Nest Syndrome since she had lived alone and her son had lived in a different state. She treats her son as if he's still a child and makes sure that he is her responsibility. She still shops for clothes for him, reminds him things and tries to pry into his personal life. Throughout the movie she continues to make sure he is her top priority and does what is best for him. She pries in his relationships and attempts to put back one from his high school past. She does what she thinks is best for him. Towards the end of the movie she snaps at him hoping that he would just appreciate what she does for him. Progressing forward she tries to see things from his point of view instead of acting on impulse which helped heal their relationships. |
The son: In the beginning of the movie the son is constantly ignoring his mother's calls and being isolated away from her. He views her as clingy and noisy. He just wants her to relax and realize she can live without him. So throughout the movie he tries to help with her relationships to try and get her off his back. He tries to push her away onto someone else. But, soon he realizes that he loves his mom and that he does need her in his life so he starts to support her. Although, he is still reluctant to take her advice he is progressing. At the end, he realizes that he cares about her and tries to see her point of view and put her first. Which helps the healing with their relationship. |
